As much as I love trying new products, I'm starting to realize that mascara might not fit into that "experimental" category.
I like long, dramatic and voluminous lashes. Lashes so thick that eye liner isn't even necessary. Seriously, the thicker and darker, the better. Naturally, as I've mentioned before, I have very very very long curly lashes. I have never used a lash curler and will, hopefully, never need to. Because my lashes are extremely long, I need a mascara that creates thickness to match the length.
Well, Revlon's Grow Luscious Mascara does not do it. Actually, it didn't do anything.
I purchased the blackest black mascara, on a whim, and tried it the other day. I pulled the wand out of the tube and knew, instantly, that it wasn't going to work for me. The wand was extremely thick which, for volume building, is not the type you want. I put it on and, after three coats, my lashes looked exactly as the always do without mascara, except slightly darker.
The worst part for me (aside from wasting money...ha) was the aftermath. The product flaked off my lashes for most of the day. For some reason, it didn't seem to adhere itself to my lashes at all. At the end of the day, I didn't even need to use eye make-up remover.
Needless to say, I won't be buying this product again.
Tell me, friends, what's the worst mascara you've ever tried? Have you tried this product before?
Agreed! I did not like this mascara either! :\ A few others that tanked in my book include the Revlon Fabulash (flaky - clumpy - runny), and the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara in Blackest Black (with the black top vs green) waaay too watery! For volume I love love love Clinique's High Impact Mascara, a fairly decent drugstore mascara for volume is Maybelline's The Colossal Mascara, or Full N' Soft. Revlon mascaras have always disappointed me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Rachael. I agree about Clinique's High Impact mascara; it's always been my go to. I have never tried the Colossal Mascara SO thinking that will be my next venture
ReplyDeleteI've been sceptical about this mascara ver since it came out... I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but thanks for sharing your honest opinion x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment gaby...if you try it, i hope you have better luck than I did.
ReplyDeleteI have had this mascara about 2 weeksn now and am trying to like it, but honestly I dont. I feel its clumpy and just bleh
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed with long curled lashes Sista! Sorry that Revlon one didnt work for you- bummer!
ReplyDeleteI have short stubborn sparse ones so I'm always on the hunt to mascara that gives me EXTREME volume and length!
SO far I'm liking Max Factor's Masterpiece and Benefit's Badgal.
Benefit's wand is quite large and uncomfortable for my small eyes but it might work for you since you?
@Amber...it seems that quite a few people are feeling this way about it SO glad to see i'm not alone!
ReplyDelete@PopBlush...I haven't tried out Benefit Mascara yet but I am totally going to do so now.
Seems like I have a lot of different brands to try.....
I don't really like any of Revlon's mascaras (whereas their Colorstay foundation is quite good, and Colorburst lippies are fab too)..
ReplyDeleteBtw, loving your blog - just followed :)

@Miss A...thanks for the follow and comment. I am totally going to have to try their foundation and not let my bad mascara experience deter me...thanks again
ReplyDeleteI have yet to find a mascara that I can truly say I love. I didn't mind Diorshow or Benefit Bad Gal. My aunt told me a story about a female courier who often delivered packages to her work. She had amazing lashes and she finally asked her one day "what's the secret?" The woman laughed (she got that a lot) and it was simple. Strange, but simple.
ReplyDeleteShe used Covergirl lashblastvolume (orange tube) in BROWN first. Then, as a secondary coat, she applied Covergirl lashblastluxe (pinky red tube) in black. Don't ask why or how, but it works. I think it has something to do with the difference in consistency between black and bornw. TRY IT!
@Rheanna...wow, I would have never thought that mixing two mascaras together could create something different. I am so going to try this
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Estee Lauder's mascaras. Really, any of them :)
