TRESemme Freshstart Strengthing Dry Shampoo: A Review

Dry shampoo is vital to my second-day hair routine.  I don't know about you but by day two (or three AND sometimes four) my hair definitely needs a pick me up.  For this reason, I have spent muchos dollars and extensive time testing multiple dry shampoo brands ranging from the cheap to the expensive and though I've found a few I like, I still felt like something was lacking in all of them.

So, when I saw the ad for TRESemme's new dry shampoos, I was very eager to test them out and I'm SOOOOO happy I did.

I purchased the Strengthening Dry Shampoo which is for dry hair that's prone to breakage.  I got this one because by day two, my hair can occasionally feel like straw.  This shampoo contains Keratin and Vitamin B12, both of which rejuvenate dry and brittle locks.  (The other two dry shampoos in the TRESemme line are Volumizing and Original.)

Applied like a hairspray, this dry shampoo is easy to use AND always manages to disperse itself evenly through out your hair.  Plus, here's the kicker, because it comes out in a steady stream like hairspray, there's no messy white residue anywhere.  (This was always the downfall of Batiste, my typical go-to dry shampoo.)  Another thing I like about this product is the smell; it's light, clean and doesn't have that potent chemical smell that other shampoos and even hairsprays have.

Pros:
Very inexpensive
Applys evenly
Removes oil and odour really well
Doesn't make my hair greasy (a HUGE plus)
Styling is easy after using this product
Hair is left feeling refreshed and clean (not heavy at all)
No messy white residue

Cons:
 Absolutely none

All in all, I am loving this product more than I originally anticipated.  The fact that I only paid $7.00 for this dry shampoo and it works much more effectively compared to the more expensive brands I've used still blows my mind.  Never again will I need to buy anything more expensive than this one.  It makes my abnormally dry hair feel moisturized AND keeps it oil-free all day.  I think I'm in love.

It's Not All Positive For Cake’s Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder

It takes quite a bit for me to have a strong, passionate dislike for a beauty product. And even now, sitting here typing away, I’m completely dumbfounded as to how such a highly regarded product flat out refuses to work on my hair. Oh, by the way, I'm talking about Cake’s Satin Sugar Hair & Body Refreshing Powder for Darker Hues. (Yes, very very very long name.)

I saw this in Sephora and fell in love with it immediately. Typically for dry shampoos, I use Batiste, Tresemme, or Oscar Blandi but liked this one because of the smell. It literally smells like cookies! Not only that, but the powder has a nice subtle sheen to it which will give a nice sparkle to your skin as well. Needless to say, I bought it.

I was so excited to use it when I woke up the next morning so after my shower, I whipped off my shower cap and tapped a bit of the powder into my hands before running my hands through my hair. My hair went instantly soft and smelled absolutely delicious! After that, I went to work styling my hair and left for work.

Sounds like a dream product I know, but here’s the kicker. During the day, my hair became EXTREMELY lifeless and flat. Yes, it was still soft but my hair looked very oily and flat. (Definitely not a nice combination when you have short hair…) When I got home, (about 11 hours after I applied it) I looked like I had been trapped in a rain storm. My usually voluminous red hair was plastered to my forehead. Not a pretty sight. Even after this, I was still reluctant to throw the towel in so last night, after work, I came home and decided to use the powder again. I tipped even LESS product in my hand, worked it into my hair and waited. Yes the smell was great and yes, my hair was soft but three hours later my hair was flat...again. Despite all the great reviews I've read of this product, it's just not going to work as a hair product for me.

However, I have been using this as a check bronzer and am loving it! I can’t wait for summer (and when I'm slightly tanned) so I can wear this product on my arms. So, despite being terrible for my hair, it’s brilliant on my skin.

Dry Shampoo for Yoo

I have officially been exposed to a whole new life changing beauty product!!!!

This new "thing" has quite literally changed my life, my boyfriend's life and my bathroom/vanity life. It's called Batiste Dry Shampoo.

I have short, choppy, extremely thick colored hair that styles heaps better when dirty. I don't typically wash my hair a lot because of it's texture (and because it's heavily colored) and therefore, am always looking for products that will take away lifelessness, bed-head and oilyness. I was using a different product for a little bit called 2nd Day Revitalizer by Marc Anthony BUT, because of my hair's texture, I found it to be extremely heavy and greasy.

After spending oodles of time perusing shops and aisles and reading a smashing blog entitled Hairdresser on Fire, I decided it was time to try some of this stuff so I grabbed two different types: Batiste and Klorane. I tried the Klorane first and didn't like the smell immediately. So I tried the Batiste the next day and have fallen in love. The smell was light and pleasant and definitely did exactly as the can said. This product is going to save hours of time spent styling, shampooing and drying!!! I highly, highly recommend it.
(Application: Hold can 30 cm from head, spray evenly. Rub into scalp and let sit for about 2 minutes. Comb or Brush out. Style as usual.)

Quick note: Don't use too much of the product. Seriously, you will have yucky looking hair and will not be able to get all of it out with your brush or comb. (Trust me...) Also, you can purchase Batiste at Shoppers Drug Mart for about $8.99
