Let's Talk About Scrub, Baby!

I've been obsessed with this scrub for a year now and just had to share it with you.

I stumbled on the brand Peter Thomas Roth quite some time ago and have been using the cleanser, serum and scrub religiously.  Since getting pregnant though, I've found the serum and cleanser just don't quite cut it anymore (thanks to way too many hormones and tons of pimples) but the scrub is still just as amazing as it was before little bean.

According to the brand's marketing, the "peeling gel visibly rolls, lifts and sweeps away dead skin cells when massaged onto skin."  And it actually does exactly what it claims to do.  See, the best part of the scrub is that it comes out a liquid...

And then once massaged onto the skin, the peeling gel starts to "peel" off your dead skin and cells all the while leaving skin buffed, clean and smooth.

A little goes a long way with this product and I usually find that the product can last a good 3 or 4 months, which for a scrub, is amazing.

Check this scrub out, ladies.  You will not be disappointed.  Or, if you have already, what are your thoughts about it??

Review: Younique Uplift Eye Serum

I grew up with a mother who started me on eye creams and serums very early.

She always explained how important it was to take care of your skin, at any age, and how it was never too early to begin an anti-aging routine.  I remember thinking at first how silly it was, that I was using cleansers, scrubs, moisturizers, eye creams and sunscreens every day but after I turned 21 I realized how fortunate I was to have that instilled in me because because not only do I have very few fine lines (if any) but I don't have any crow's feet or puffiness around my eyes.  Thanks, mom, for making me use these products so early!

One thing I despise about eye creams is they are gooey.  Truly gooey.  They are usually thick, abnormally wet and take forever for your skin to absorb them, if your skin can even absorb all that goo.  I've always tired to go the serum route but they, too, are unusually thick and don't seem to soak in to the skin.

I knew as soon as I saw that Younique made an eye serum, I was going to HAVE to try it.  Not only is it the texture and feel of an oil (as a true serum should be) but it's almost 100% natural AND doesn't have that weird smell that most eye creams/serums do.

The dropper is by far the best tool to use for this rather runny serum.  (Remember, runny is GOOD for a serum).  And a little goes a long way with this product.  I literally use a dime-size amount distributed between both eyes.  A little patting around the whole eye and it literally absorbs within seconds.

I have only been using this product for a few short days and I can already say that it's dynamite.  I mean it has everything I want from an eye serum: no smell, no stickiness, no gooeyness AND it actually absorbs into my skin.

If you are on the hunt for a great eye serum, you have to try this one.  Honestly, you won't be disappointed.

DIY Beauty Fridays: Homemade Lavender Foot Soak

Photo courtesy of Spa Around the World
I knew when I got pregnant that I would most likely be sick, nauseous and very tired.  And I have been all of these, though less so now as I move into my second trimester.

Instead, i'm now dealing with sore feet.  All the time!

Today for example.  I am sitting at my desk working away, wearing my favorite brown boots and stretching my feet underneath my desk.  I don't know if I stretched my foot the wrong or am just falling apart BUT my right foot cracked in the most hideous way and I am now completely swollen.

Now, you are probably saying that this has nothing to do with being pregnant however, this weird muscle cramp snap thing has never occurred before so yes, I am blaming little bean for this...ha.

On that note, I see a much needed luxurious foot soak in my future....

Lavender Foot Soak

You will need:
4-5 liters of water
A few drops of lavender essential oil
1/4 cup epsom salt

Boil the water and, once boiled, let it cool down to a comfortable temperature for your tootsies.  Add the lavender and salt, stirring gently.  Put your feet in the mixture and enjoy!

Nothing makes me feel better than a foot soak.  Especially after a long, hard week at both work and the gym.  Enjoy, ladies, and Happy Friday!

The Dreaded Eyeliner: Explained

My eyeliner on a good day....ha
I get asked about eyeliner, a lot.

Honestly, more than you would think.  I wonder if people think that I'm a MASTER at putting it on because I have a beauty blog.  I'm lucky, though, as I have almond shaped eyes and really big eyes to boot.  This makes me able to smudge eyeliner around the outside corner of my eyes, put a lot of tight liner on, a lot of mascara and call it a smoky eye.

But honestly, perfectly placed eyeliner is a talent I've yet to master.  I am definitely much better than I used to be and do get asked to do smoky eyes on most of my friends but it does take practice.  And a lot of practice at that.

Here's a quick eyeliner guide providing you with an easy look at how to place eyeliner on your eye based on what will look good on your eye shape.

Remember, don't get discouraged and PRACTICE makes perfect.

What eyeliner style is your favorite?  How long did it take you to master?
