Have you ever hidden a makeup purchase from your boyfriend or partner?
I have....a few times. Like today for example, because it was my birthday yesterday Allan got a me a gift card to Sephora (even though we JUST had to buy a brand new washer/dryer....sigh) and Sephora was having a 15% off everything sale SO I went shopping right after work. I spent WAY too much money on some amazing things (more on this purchase later) and since Allan is out for dinner with clients at the moment, I hid my beautiful new items under my vanity table.
Take my recent ELF purchase for example. Allan knew I was ordering a couple things and he knew how much I was spending. However, I had know idea that all of my products from ELF would be individually wrapped in a big box, thus making it look like I bought their entire warehouse. As you can probably tell, this is my first time ordering ELF. I'd heard so much about this product line from all the other blogs I follow that I thought it was time to test a few items myself.
Here is the box of doom. I know it doesn't look that big but it's filled to brim with tons of different items and it's been extremely difficult hiding this box from Allan.
Oh look! Everything is packed separately which I like very much but it's going to be very difficult sneaking this garbage out the door...
ELF Duo Smoky Eye Kit - Loved this product because it came with all four eye shadow duos and a brush. I am really liking the purple/shimmery black duo.
ELF Studio Mini Makeup Collection - This product was the reason I placed my ELF order to begin with. However, when I went to pick my order up originally, this product was missing so they re-sent it out and I got it two weeks later. Aside from that, I love the shimmery eye shadow colors and even the lip glosses. Such a great buy at only $14 USD.
ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder - Liked this product because of the blush color. It's a gorgeous shimmery peach and I can not wait to wear it in the summer.
ELF Studio Complexion Perfection - I am so wearing this tomorrow morning! It's a pressed powder that blends all four complexion perfecting colors in one. I'll let you know how this product fairs for sure.
ELF Studio Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter - What a brilliant combination! Now, I don't really suffer from under eye bags but I still use a highlighter under my eyes most days. I'm eager to see the consistency of the concealer on the opposite end as well.
ELF Studio Shimmering Facial Whip - You know, this product, and in particular the color on the bottom right, has won many "best of" awards in quite a few beauty magazines. I purchased (from top left) Camilla, a nude shimmer, Pink Lemonade, a beautiful rosy shimmer, and the heavily awarded Toasted, a bronze shimmer.
ELF Mineral Lipsticks in Runway Pink, Party Pink and Nicely Nude. Are you catching a trend in my lipstick choices?
Swatches from left to right: Runway Pink, Party Pink and Nicely Nude. Sigh, they're all gorgeous.
And, since this post is getting verrryyyy long, here are the last few items in a group shot. From left to right: ELF Eyelid Primer, ELF Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 in Watermelon, Malt Shake, Pink Kiss and Goddess, ELF Brightening Eye Color in Butternut (my free gift), ELF Duo Powder Eyeshadow in Mocha Swirl, ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Shy and Innocence and last but not least the ELF Studio Shimmering Palette.
Whew, quite a haul. BUT, I would like to say that all this only cost me $55 including shipping. Not too much at all. Have any of you ever tried any of these products? What did you think of them?
Ciao
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the whips - some people have touted them as good dupes of NARS illuminators, but others really disagree, so ... I haven't yet ordered them myself!
ReplyDeleteOoooo, thanks so much Erin. I had heard that before and I am super eager to try them out too. I'll keep you posted for sure

I'm really excited for your reviews! I got a 32 eyeshadow palette a couple of weeks ago and I'm going to be working on a review over the weekend. I love elf because it's so affordable that it's practically guilt free! the shadows are staying on well with a primer, they're nice especially for the price. XO
ReplyDeleteThanks for that AKB. You're right...It is almost guilt free shopping..ha. Yes, I'll do reviews for sure and I can't wait to see photos from your new palette.

Its funny I turned my nose up at this brand for so long but for xmas my mom actually got me some power eyeshadows and eye shadow pencils and I love them so much
ReplyDeleteFantastic haul! Cant wait to see what you think of the mini studio palette :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome haul!
ReplyDeleteELF is yet another brand I wish we could get in Australia. *sigh* hehe Would love to try that blush and bronzer duo compact - I've heard great things!
Still haven't bought anything from ELF...Should probably jump on the band wagon and at least try one product!x
ReplyDeleteI've only tried a couple of lipsticks and a blusher from Elf. They were all OK but for some reason I'm not a huge fan of the brand.
ReplyDeleteRunway Pink is a gorgeous lippie though - I've got it and it gives me the perfect pinky nude lips :)
Such a great haul though :)
xx
Beautiful!

umm yes, I definitely hide things on occasion, lol. My mom does the same. She keeps things in her trunk and brings in one item at a time; she ain't fooling no one.
ReplyDeleteI am always afraid the make up from ELF is cheaper because its less pigmented, so I am excited to see how it all turns out. I've had good luck with some of their brushes though.
I think you chose some great stuff, I know you will really enjoy trying them & seeing what your favs are. And even if some of them don't work for you, it doesn't cost a fortune to try it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious to see how you like the quality as well. You got a great variety of things tho, awesome haul!! xo
ReplyDeleteI love ELF. A lot of their products are amazing and for under 5 dollars you really can't go wrong! I love the lipsticks in the black tube, they packaging is so sleek and the lipstick is amazing. Enjoy!

@MM and Monique...thanks ladies!
@Loodie...glad to hear I'm not the only one that hides things...ha. I'll let you know for sure about the makeup and whether the pigment is good
@Tracy D...thanks lady. You're right though, not everything will be my fave but I didn't spend too much so it's all good
@Bronwen...I'll keep you posted for sure..xo
@Beautybloggin..Glad you like the line. I am super stoked to try everything. So far, the lipstick is awesome, you're right!

Haha love the sneak it past Allan bit, I recently got some bits from Elf here in the UK and their packaging is alil over the top but such bargains and great products.
ReplyDeleteOmg I love love love elf.com products! I've ordered from them twice and both times i received my package in a huge box! Haha It's so easy to go overboard with their prices. I cant wait to hear how you like the products :) Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteGREAT haul!!! Can't wait to hear what you think after trying the products!
ReplyDeleteAbout hiding the box...tear or cut the box up in smaller pieces and stick it down in the bottom of the trash or hide the ripped up pieces in a cereal box or something else getting trashed!!!
I've never actually tried Elf myself but they look fabulous...I wish I had a cosmetics collection like that...*hides make-up bag with shame* lol...wonderful blog and LabelSnob had a good idea with tearing up the box, thats what I do lol
ReplyDeleteI don't have many elf products, but I like everything I have. Great haul!!
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies so much for the comments! By the way, Label Snob, that is pretty much the best idea i've heard. I am so going to try that next time
