New products fascinate me, they really do.
About three weeks ago, I popped by Shoppers Drug Mart after getting my haircut. I was feeling a bit sorry for myself because my hair was cut a lot shorter than normal so I was desperately feeling the need to buy something special. After wandering up and down the aisles for a good 10 minutes, I saw a new display advertising Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution.
For those new to Bioderma I'll give you a quick rundown. The Bioderma laboratory (laboratoire dermatologique) is based in Lyon, France and is among the most frequently prescribed laboratories by French dermatologists. Bioderma, the line, is favored by many physicians and pharmacists because it's in touch with every type of skin issue available. They have lines specifically for sensitive skin (sensibio), iritated skin (cicabio) and dry skin (actoderm) just to name a few. Needless to say, Bioderma is very well-known for a reason.
Anyway, back to shopping....
So, I snatched up the Sensibio H2O and, after reading the label, realized that it's a cleanser/make-up remover all in one. And, because I love products like this so much (I really do) I bought it.
I used it that night on both my eyes and face and initial thought was good. I liked that the cleaner/make-up remover was clear in color and had virtually no odor. (Actually, it was like using water, but more efficient.) I soaked a cotton pad and went to town on my eye make-up. It took a little bit of effort but all of my make-up did come off AND, best part was, there was no irritation. I then soaked another cotton pad and used it on my face. I found that it took off my make-up fairly well but didn't quite cleanse my face. After about three more cotton pads (and I really don't wear much make-up), I finally got to see how it would cleanse my face. I liked the feel of my skin after using the product, it felt a lot more smooth, but still didn't think it got my skin as clean as I wanted.
Do I think this product was worth the $22 I paid? Unfortunately, it's a no for me. As much as I liked the "make-up remover" portion I think that the cleanser side fell flat. So, I guess this is one product I won't be running out and buying again anytime soon.
Have any of you tried anything else in this brand before?
Ciao

ReplyDeleteOh, sorry, I wanted to edit my comment but removed it. I never heard about this brand but it's on amazon and I just found out that they have a 50+ sun cream. I think I will try this, I need a lot of sun cream anyway and it sounds good what's written about it.
ReplyDeleteGood post!
I just wrote a short note about micelle solutions yesterday - a little bit of theory what they are and how they work :) I'll be reviewing a couple from Pharmaceris later on this week.
ReplyDeleteBioderma is extremely popular in Poland and almost everybody loves it ... i'm tempted to try myself, but I haven't seen it in any store in NYC ... Too bad it didn't work for you! :(
@Joe...thanks for the comment lady! I really like the product line so I'd be eager to here what you think of the sunscreen!
ReplyDelete@Urban Warrior...Honestly, I like the brand and product line but I guess I wanted more from this product. Does it remove eye-makeup, yes and it did remove my face make-up too but not very well. Once the makeup was off though, it does thoroughly cleanse your skin....I din't know I guess I had high expectations
xo
Despite the fact that this comes from my hometown, I have never tried it and so far had only seen positive reviews. I was even thinking of picking one up next time I was over in France. Thanks for your honest review :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know! Thanks for the great review! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Christina, I have this product as well after seeing Lisa Eldridge talk about it in a skin care video. She primarily uses it as a makeup remover, on herself & at model shoots, and that is how I use it as well. For my skin care routine I use this to remove my makeup & then I use my cleanser, etc. I then use it first thing in the morning to cleanse, and then apply my moisturizer, etc. This is so gentle & I love the feel of it, but I only truly use it as a cleanser when I don't have any makeup on, otherwise I use it as a makeup remover...I hope that makes sense :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it, but I want to!
ReplyDelete@The Make-up Fairy...you should definitely pick it up. I'd love to hear your review
ReplyDelete@Tracy D...This is exactlty what I started doing after the initial first time. I actually used it this morning before my cleanser and my skin felt really good. I will never use it to take off all of my face make-up because i wouldn't want to use that much of it. But as a quick morning cleanser, it's great!
This stuff looks amazing!

I've been using this product since the '90s. My French dermatologist recommended it as a makeup remover/cleanser but it is NOT to be used on the eye area as it can make your eyes puffy and irritated. You must also carefully dry your skin after use, not just let it air dry. After years of expensive high-end cleansers, lotions, etc, this product has done wonders for my skin and that, at a very low price (in France, you can buy a pack of 2 bottles of 500ml for about 18 euros or $22, over the Internet). That's the price of a puny 250ml bottle here in Canada. So every time I go back to France I stock up! The only eye makeup remover I found so far that doesn't make my eyes puffy is....Yves Rocher! Granted, theses products don't look very glamorous on your bathroom shelf but they work!
