A Glimpse At My Vanity Table and Makeup

Confession time!  I am obsessed with seeing other people's vanity tables and makeup storage.  I don't know why but I actively google it.  Sometimes it's to get ideas and other times it's to drool/lust over items I will never be able to afford.

I have to say, though, I'm quite proud of my vanity area.  I've been asked a lot lately by some of my readers to post about my vanity area and I am so excited to share these pics with you.

Allan fixed the two crystal knobs to the drawer for me and also hung a power cord to the bottom of the table SO all my cords are out of the way and no one can see them.

No vanity area is complete without a gorgeous piece of art work and I am loving the colors in this piece.

My daily-use bushes are in the cup and of course, my gold telephone piggy bank houses all my rainy day spend-on-makeup coins.  The white jar holds all my q-tips and cotton pads while the green jar holds elastics and bobby pins.

My Ganesh candle holder sits directly in the center of the vanity table and my little oil burner sits beside it.  Doing your makeup when the air smells pretty is the best thing.

Above the vanity table are my wordy inspiration pictures.  The one in white is my all-time favorite: "If you want to know where your heart is, look where your mind goes when it wanders".  Love it.  Below the pictures is a basket of my hair goodies.

Inside one of the drawers are some palettes, hence why I call this Palette Drawer 1.

This is the blush/bronzer/highlighter/contour drawer.  I know it looks disorganized BUT I know where absolutely everything is.

Palette drawer 2.  Ha

The eye drawer contains all my mascara/liners/shadows/liquid liners.

Last but not least, the lip drawer.  All my favorite flavors of LipSmackers are sitting on the top as I have dozens of these glosses everywhere.  You can definitely see I like the pink lipsticks....ha

As you saw from the pic above, I have a jar of brushes I use most of the time.  However, when I am actually wanting to do my makeup perfectly, I use my better sets.  This is my Morphe Brush set.  I love the duo colors.

This is my newest set of brushes and I actually just received them last week so haven't even used more than a couple of them.  However, look how many brushes there are AND I am in love with the colors used.  They are so classic looking.

THANK YOU for asking me to share this with you.  Was it what you thought the space would look like?  I'd love to see some of your makeup spaces as well.

Your Jewelry Goes Where???

From Ben Gagnon Photography
Aside from beauty products, I'm slightly obsessed with earrings and jewelry.  I adore shopping for these little trinkets and firmly believe that a girl can never have too many earrings.  I truly and honestly feel this way.  However, there comes a time when a gal has to either stop buying earrings OR find a tidy way to hang them.  I, of course, chose the latter.

Though I think I've found the perfect solution to my earring crisis, here are some jewelry storage solutions that are absolutely fantastic...

The first one is, by far, my favorite but I have WAY too many earrings for it to work.  Plus, my idea is so inexpensive and easy to create that it's perfect.  Here's how I house my jewelry...

It's a cork board!!!  I picked this up for about $15 and grabbed some thumb tacks from the dollar store.  I love this solution because everything is out in the open which makes it way easier to see what you have and pick your accessories for the day.

Here's a close-up of what the earrings look like on the thumb tacks.  Sometimes, I'm boggled by how creative I can be......HA

How is your jewelry housed?  I'd love to see some pics...

I'm Dreaming Of.......Vanity Tables

Do you ever wish that you had unlimited funds and a home with unlimited space? Silly question, I know but just imagine the makeup, fragrances and clothing you'd have? Sigh....

Personally, I would love to have a great organized closet with a ginormous built-in vanity/dressing table (alla Carrie Bradshaw) to house all my cosmetics but living in a 2 bedroom condo does not allow for much space.

Since we all can dream, have a look at these beautiful dressing tables:

I'm a huge sucker for antiques. I love this table because there are tons of drawer space and a cute little glass knick knack shelf in the centre. So classic and pretty!

How cute is this little table...it's prefect for small spaces. However, it would hardly hold any of my makeup but it's still pretty. I really like the three mirrors.

This is my all-time favorite vanity table. Would it hold any of my makeup...no but I love the mirrors. It has such a princess-y feel.

This table is so old Victorian and the stool is absolutely perfect! I adore this one. I can definitely see this as a focal point in a woman's bedroom.

And, now, here's my terrible vanity table. I'm in the process of priming and re-painting it, hence why it's lacking color. I actually bought this for only $20 on craigslist because it's an old desk and someone was trying to get rid of it quickly. The big green mirror, though, is vintage and was given to me by my mom. My plan (when the weather starts to get nice and I can take it outside) is to paint it a light seafoam green and put a huge black chandelier stencil on the top. I am then going to paint my stool sliver and re-upholster it with a black and white houndstooth print. Can't wait!! (PS - Yes, all the drawers are filled to the brim with makeup and no, it's never this tidy!)

Tell me ladies! How are you storing your makeup? Do you have a vanity table? I'd love to see some of your pics...

Cheers
