Check it Out: Drew Barrymore's New Cosmetic Line!

All photos courtesy of www.dailymail.co.uk
I've always been a huge Drew Barrymore fan. From seeing her play little Gertie on ET or as Josie Geller in Never Been Kissed, I've always admired her care-free style, whimsical hair-dos and vibrant lipstick choices. So, when I heard she was launching her own cosmetic line, Flower Beauty, I was beyond ecstatic.   Additionally, when I heard the line was also budget friendly, I was even more impressed.

The line is being carried exclusively in Walmart across the US and has a launch date of January 31, 2013.  "Flower cosmetics, which include lip colors, eye shadows, nail polishes and mascaras, range in price from  about $5 to $14."  Perfect for the gal who wants to look fabulous AND not spend a whole heap of money.

I am really looking forward to my next trip to the states, that's for sure.  I have a whole list of items I can't wait to try!

Have any of you ladies tried the products yet?  If so, what are your thoughts of the line?

DIY Beauty Fridays: Soft Hair with Baby Food

Sometimes, I surprise even myself when I discover new items you can use to make yourself gorgeous. Like today, for example. Who knew you could have that soft, flowing hair you've always wanted just by using baby food?

I don't know about your hair but mine, during the winter months, is almost unmanageable.  Seriously, it's dry, frizzy and only looks half-ways decent if pulled into a messy bun.  I have always envied those girls who have beautiful, silky tresses, even when standing in a wind/rain storm.  Grrrrr

In fact, one of my friends, has the most gorgeous hair I've ever seen.  She claims her hair has split ends and looks dreadful if she stands in the wind BUT let's be honest, I have never seen her hair out of place EVER.  (Oh, Rheanna, I wish I had your hair.)

However, since I don't, I need to use products, even baby food, to achieve it.

Deep Conditioning with Baby Food

You'll need:

One jar organic banana flavored baby food
Extra-virgin olive oil
Honey

Mix ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.  The key to this is to use slightly more honey than oil.  (The consistency should resemble oatmeal.)  Apply to clean, wet hair and leave on for 15 minutes.  Rinse out very well.

You will adore your hair after this treatment.  Honestly, your hair will be so shiny and manageable, you'll want to use this mix all the time!  Let me know what you think of the treatment of you do try it out.

Happy Friday!

NYX Cosmetics Haul

NYX Haul - Lip palettes, cream blushes and eye shadows galore!
As you all know, I am a sucker for a good deal.  In fact, I'll go out of my way to hunt down a fantastic bargain, especially if that bargain is a makeup/skin care product.

Last Saturday I went to one of my favorite malls as I had a date with my dentist.  Since I wasn't allowed to have any coffee before my date, I stumbled into a new store called Funk 'N' Frost Beauty Bar to pass the time.  Not only did this store actually carry one of my favorite makeup lines, Youngblood, but they sell the ENTIRE NYX Professional line as well.  I was in heaven.

There I purchased 2 cream blushes, 2 eye shadow trios and 2 lip palettes.  All for the bargain price of only $30.  (The lip palettes were only $3 a piece!)

First up are the eye trios.  The one on the left is called TS 16 and contains Luster, Platinum Silver and Opal. The one on the right is called TS 17 and contains Iced Mocha, Slate and Frosted Flake.  The green color is so beautiful and I can't wait to try it out.

I actually went in directly for the cream blushes because I'm in love with any and all cream blushes right now.  Not only are they super easy to use but the colors are so vibrant and they can double as a lip gloss in a pinch.  The colors I got are called Hot Pink and Glow.

Okay, the lip palettes.  I am probably the only girl alive in her early 30s that still loves lip palettes.  Seriously!  They are the perfect size to fit in a clutch when going out on the town AND perfect for travel, as they take next to no space.  Plus, for only $3 a piece, you just can't go wrong.  The colors I got are Pinky Promise and  Red Rediscovered.

I then also picked up some hot rollers because my hair is at a very awkward length at the moment AND is super thick.  As much as I love the look of my hair curled with a curling iron, it takes way too long to actually style it this way.  I'm hoping this will make my life easier.  If not, I will be wearing it up everyday for the next 6 months...

Have any of you ladies used the NYX Blush line before?  What's your favorite NYX product?

DIY Beauty Fridays: Facial Mask Recap

I woke up this morning to an unusually large pimple in a very strange spot on my cheek. Pimples, I can handle, but really big ones in areas that are very difficult to cover are completely different.

After giving this whole pimple-thing some serious thought, I came to conclusion that I am in desperate need of some serious scrubbing/masking.  After my special girls-night dinner this evening, it's time to give my face some attention.

After looking through my DIY Beauty Fridays page on my blog, I was shocked to see how many amazing scrub/mask recipes I have shared.  So, here's a quick recap of some quick and easy to make scrubs:

Today is definitely a night for the Revitalizing Face Mask and the Pimple Prevention Treatment.

What are your favorite DIY scrubs/masks?

Happy scrubbing ladies!

Red Lip Gloss...Back In Action!

Me in Bali.  Pretty much the most tanned I've ever been!
I've been sitting here staring at my computer screen for the last 10 minutes without attempting to write anything. I've been away from the blogging world for a couple of months and trying to formulate why I've been away is very difficult for me.  I guess I'll begin with...

After the wedding and our honeymoon, I lost focus on the direction I wanted Red Lip Gloss to go.  At first, I thought by trying to obtain new followers and sponsors I would achieve a blog that was settled and globally accepted.  Then, I realized that it wasn't the direction I wanted to be going in at all.  By being on that path, I was becoming very unmotivated and the desire to write about the products and items I love disappeared.  So, after giving it a lot of thought, I've decided to come back to blogging BECAUSE I love writing, I love the blogging community, I adore makeup and I miss the social interaction.  I owe a lot my renewed spirit to all of you!  Not only for taking the time to read my blog(s) BUT for your continued support, comments, emails and letters.  Honestly, you all made me realize how much blogging means to me.  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

So, here I am, back and ready to tell you all about my amazing new purchases and finds.  But first, here's what I've been up to since Halloween.

1) I'm officially gluten and wheat free!  This was a big change for me, as I adore breads and carbs, but this change has made my skin glow, my hair and nails grow like crazy and I feel so much better.  Plus, losing those extra pounds has really made me feel like a whole new person!

2) I'm running again.  I am trying to get back onto an exercise routine and I really started to miss running.  So, instead of spending a ton of money going to a gym, I'm pounding the pavement instead!

3) I am back in love with coffee.  Tea is still right up there for me but I can actually drink coffee again without getting heartburn (YAY for gluten free dieting!)

4) I am planning mine and Allan's newest adventure to South East Asia.  We will be backpacking for three months starting at the end of November 2013.  (For those that aren't aware, we blogged about our honeymoon in Bali and will be blogging our entire journey on our sister blog, The Antsy Travelers.)  More on this trip to come later.

Anyway, I am back and ready to blog.  Stay tuned for DIY Beauty Fridays, guests posts and many new product adventures.

I love you all and I am so glad to be back!
