DIY Beauty Fridays: The Miracle of Olive Oil

Olive oil is, quite possibly, one of the most versatile kitchen products on the market. This product is not only inexpensive, easy to find and in virtually any pasta, fish or salad dish, but it's also one of the most effective beauty products. Last week I posted about creating a lip scrub using both sugar and olive oil, which I'm sure most everyone knows works wonders. However, here are 7 new ways to use this kitchen staple to your body's advantage. 1. De-frizz your hair - Olive oil makes a great conditioner for people with frizzy or unruly hair. Add some olive oil to your clean locks, wrap in a warm towel and let sit for about 15-20 minutes. Once rinsed, your hair will be super shiny and less frizzy. 2. Remove eye makeup - I know, I know it's not my Sonia Kashuk staple but seriously, if you're in a bind, try this out. Pour some olive oil on a cotton pad and go to town on your eyes. 3. Replenish chapped lips - Okay, this tip I've been using for the past three days and am in love with it. Pour a little on your fingertips and rub into your lips. I'm finding that it works best if rubbed in before bed and left on overnight. Seriously, leaves lips silky smooth and soft. 4. Healthy cuticles - This tip is pretty much a given. Rub some oil into your fingertips and the product will not only soften your skin but also keep your cuticles healthy and less prone to tearing. 5. Soften skin - Add a few drops of olive oil to your bath tub for super soft skin. 6. Moisturize face and reduce wrinkles - Olive oil, though not proven, is believed to be an effective measure in wrinkle prevention. Many people apply this product liberally before bed and swear their skin is perfect in the morning. I'll say, in the times I've tried this, my skin definitely feels more moisturized and looks more radiant. Obviously someone's got the right idea. 7. Soothe dry feet - I am, without a doubt, passing this tip to my mom and she suffers from dry feet in the winter. Rub some oil on your feet and cover them with socks before going to bed. It might take a couple applications but soon, your feet will look and feel a whole lot better. Enjoy the olive oil tips ladies and I should probably mention that Extra Virgin Olive Oil works best if you're using it on your face! Let me know if I've missed any as well. I would LOVE to hear how you're using this cheap kitchen staple. XO

I've never used this as a beauty aid, I'll have to try it out.

  12. Huh, this is some interesting stuff!

I didn't know you can use olive oil in so many different ways.

I live in Greece and my Greek bf's family has olive land, so we always have our own olive oil.

I'm gonna try some of your advice!
